Teva Straight Down Striit

Click here for the English text.

Straight Down Striit LogoHeuer fand zum dritten Mal die Straight Down Striit statt.

About 100 starters from many countries

This year the Straight Down Striit took place for the third time. The event is organized by Ron Fischer, Lukas Wegmann, Silvan Müller and Lukas Wielatt – so you could say it is organized by kayakers for kayakers. Having fun is more important than having success, a thought which accompanies the whole event.
The river section Striit is one of the best places in the Alps. With 75‰ it is very steep for a boater cross and for experts only.

The boater cross

The event was devided in three race categories – the Creek Competition, the Fun Race and the Chinese Race as repechage.
The creek competition started with a qualification time run, only the best 32 kayakers qualified for the boater cross. I made it to position 19 after the time race. My boater cross heat started very good and I gained the lead for the first half of the race. Then I made a small mistake and lost the leadership and was eliminated :-( Alex wasn’t lucky in the first heat too. But Florian Fischer suprised on his Liquidlogic Jefe by kicking the former Kayak Slalom World-, European- and German champion Fabian Dörfler out of the race. In the final heat Jakobus Stenglein raced Ron Fischer. Ron had a bad start and pulled in an eddy directly off the starting ramp, so Jakobus won easily.
In the women creek competition Anne Hübner won superiorly.

2 Jefe Grande on French National TV

Hello All!

This is my first post here. So I won’t be long.

Just a quick news to let you know that this Saturday 8 of May at 18H00 there’ll be a 6mn program  during the ADN TV Show. This show is usually watched by 3,5 millions television viewers. Not bad for creek boating ;-) Usually in France you don’t see kayaks on TV execpt once every 4 years for the Olympics. So it’s pretty new and very interesting to be able to show nice kayaking on TV. The story is about Alex “Jakette” Besseau, 3rd place C1 freestyle at the last worlds. He usually use Gui Gui Prod boat but for that mission I gave him my old Liquidlogic Jefe Grande. It’s a road trip where I introduce him to running waterfalls, the climax is the classic Ribo drop, a clean 16 meter drop. That’s for the story, we were pretty lucky with sun and water level so there should be some nice images.

The show can be podcasted here for a week after it has been broadcasted:

Jefe performs as Playboat

On Calancasca river at a high level I tested the playboat performance of my Jefe. And yes it works well…I started with a nice entry move which is called Deep Diver going directly into a nice cartwheel. A glorious ride, much fun…not just for me, see the photos.
